Mississippi-based nursing colleges and universities offer ways for Registered Nurses to advance in their careers through dedicated graduate programs. For most RNs, the most likely path is a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN). Many more doors will be open to you than you’d have purely with an undergraduate degree. You will also be able to enter a niche or take on more responsibilities and climb the career ladder.

Both ADN and BSN are available as part-time and full-time programs, on-campus and online.

RN to MSN and BSN to MSN Programs

Registered nurses across the USA enter their careers with one of two degree types. The first type is the Associate degree in Nursing – the ADN and applying for an RN license upon graduation. The other type is the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) – a more academic type of degree. You may study a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with either type, but key differences exist. BSN graduates will have a shorter route as they already have a grounding in nursing that ADN graduates lack. Both are available as full-time, part-time, hybrid, online, and campus degrees.

Typical Program Length

  • ADN/RN to MSN programs take six semesters to complete –two years
  • BSN to MSN programs take four semesters to complete – around 15 months
